You have to sign up for the Moodle course if you plan to study the module!

Please enroll in the Moodle course: https://moodle.uni-wuppertal.de/course/view.php?id=32676

Important: Only if you register for the Moodle course, we can send you information via the messaging system.

Note: We also offer a MSc seminar, which partly overlaps with the dates for this module here. Of course, it is possible to take both courses (in the same semester). Further explanations will be given at the (joint) first meeting.

Course Information

Students understand theoretical, empirical, and policy frameworks to analyze problems in macroeconomics, international economics and labor economics when markets are incomplete. They master key differences between frictionless economies and economies where a variety of market failures exist, such as limits to borrowing, search frictions or commitment problems. They understand how decision-theoretic approaches based on microeconomic behavior can identify the frictions that explain empirically observed phenomena. They are able to critically assess the normative consequences of economic policy measures and institutions when markets are incomplete. Students are able to understand recent research articles in economics and develop a basis for conducting quantitatively oriented research.

Successful completion of the module "Dynamic Quantitative Economics" (MWiWi 2.8) is mandatory (no exceptions).
